For the first time in his career, DaBaby reaches the top of the Billboard 200 and is feeling super proud of this accomplishment. After the news regarding his album reaching No. 1 was released by Billboard, the Interscope Records artist shared his thoughts on his achievement on Instagram.

DaBaby wins Best New Hip Hop Artist at the BET awards.

“#1 ALBUM ON BILLBOARD,” he wrote. “When I got the news I took my time letting it sink in cause this one different. Google me and see what I done been through in the past 12 months. Then ask yourself how da f**k I’m STILL standing on all Ten. Blood, Sweat, & Tears for it. The world ain’t never seen a n***a like me win. GOD is GREAT WHATS NEXT? My last name #KIRK n***a.”

According to information and sales tracking system Nielsen Music, DaBaby’s KIRK sold 145,000 album equivalent units to become the top-selling album for the week ending on October 3. The biggest role in the album’s success was its streaming numbers as the project only sold 8,000 copies in terms of pure album sales.

The young rapper’s previous studio album Baby on Baby, which was also his debut album, peaked at No. 7, which he set earlier this year. And by June of 2019, the LP was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

It’s safe to say that the young MC must be going through a roller coaster of emotions after reaching the number one spot while having recently lost his father. In the album, DaBaby reflects on his new fame while dedicating the album to the man who raised him.
